ZEH

With sadness we announce that Gordon “Gordie” Leonard Zeh of Parkland Beach, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Gordie was born on April 6, 1935 in Trochu, Alberta, one of five children born to Rebecca and David Zeh. He drove a cement mixer in Calgary for Burnco Rock Products for 35 years, retiring to the Summer Village of Parkland Beach in 1996. His loving wife, Betty, kept him busy tending to their acreage, feeding the squirrels and birds, and making half-hearted attempts to keep the “goddamn deer” out of the vegetable garden! Gordie was a self-taught banjo player and a life-long lover of music. He enjoyed picking his banjo for family and friends, and played in several bands into his 80s.

Gordie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betty; his children: Barb (Gord) Titterington, Vance (Kathy) Zeh, Colleen Donaven, and Kevin (Kathleen) Zeh; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Leanne (J.C.) Boulton, Jimmy (Kasha) Boon, Mandy (Sean) McMullen, Gordie (Tracy) Zeh, Michael (Stephanie) Donaven, and Odessa and Carter Zeh; and his great grandchildren: Amelia, Lincoln, Rhett, Bowen, and Ridge. He was predeceased by his parents, Rebecca and David; and all his immediate siblings.

With respect for Gordie’s wishes, no formal funeral service was held. His immediate family came together at Gordie’s home – where he loved being the most – to celebrate a truly beautiful man.

“Pick it out Billy Bird.”

As music was very important to Gordie, we invite you to honour him by taking a moment to enjoy your favourite piece of music and cherish a memory from time spent with him.
