BELL

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Papa, and husband, Donald “Donny” Gordon Bell of Bluffton, Alberta.  Don passed away at the age of 56 years at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Saturday, March 1, 2025, with his sons holding his hands, his wife by his side, and his daughter-in-law Kristen helping ease his passing.

Don was born and raised in Rimbey, Alberta; a son to Gordon and Ruby Bell.  He was a very special person who loved nothing in life more than he loved his family; and he was an incredibly caring and generous Papa to his ten grandkids.  Don possessed a genuine sense of humour that could easily make people laugh.  He truly touched the life of anyone he met.   He also had a passion and love for his dogs like no other.  Eva, his German Shepherd, was Don’s travel companion and would cruise everywhere with him in his work truck and personal vehicles.  She was at every hunting camp, just like one of his kids.

Don will be most remembered for his intense passion for hunting and fishing, and the incredible knowledge of the outdoors that he was never shy to teach.  He will also be fondly remembered for his loud contagious laugh, the candy bags and chocolate milk in hand at the door for the grandkids, and the rev of those Harley’s!  Don leaves behind his legacy that nothing matters more than family, in addition to his ongoing gift for sharing and passing on his vast abundance of hunting and fishing knowledge.  To say that Don will be greatly missed is a huge understatement.  His memory will always live on though his family legacy that will ultimately be cherished in the hearts of all.

He was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart Charleyne; and a loving father to his sons Don Bell Jr., Jerry Bell, and Tom Bell.  Don was an extremely proud Papa as Don Jr. and Chelsea blessed him with three beautiful grandchildren Dawn, Ryder, and Rowan; Jerry and Kristen provided Don with two more beautiful grandchildren Isaac, and Charley; and Tom and Danielle together gave him another five beautiful grandchildren Tucker, Kasey, Jeppson, Rosie, and Penelope.  Don is also survived by seven siblings Danny, Janice, Brenda, Wanda, Linda, Donna, and Debbie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and close friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Ruby; in addition to several other family members.

With respect for Don’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  He will be laid to rest at a later date in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.  If desired, memorial donations in Don’s memory may be made directly to the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 – 77 Street, Red Deer, Alberta  T4P 2J1 (https://cahumane.com).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
