With great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Ellen Wood (née Hill) of Brooks, Alberta. Born in Lacombe, Alberta to Osa and Peter Hill, Jean passed away at the Brooks Health Centre on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 94 years.

Jean’s credo in life was, “You have to make things happen”. She lived her life to the fullest, filling each day with new adventures, and always with a carload of friends or her family along for the ride. Jean had a curious nature, and was a lifelong learner. She was a school teacher for many years, but throughout her lifetime her best lessons were taught by example. Jean was dearly loved and she will be deeply missed.

Jean is survived by her five children Larry (Diana) of Mission, British Columbia; Barbara of Brooks; Roger (Teresa) of Fort Saskatchewan; Peter (Cheryl) of Markerville, Alberta; and Jennifer of Rimbey; as well as eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Donald of Ponoka; many beloved nieces and nephews; and several cherished friends and acquaintances. Jean was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband John; son-in-law Fritz Lasanté; her grandson Jon Wood; in addition to numerous other well-loved family members and friends.

With respect for Jean’s wishes, a private Graveside Service was held at the Lacombe Fairview Cemetery, Lacombe on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
