It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Donald “Don” Rae Allison of Rimbey, Alberta. Don passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Acute Care on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Don was born in Rimbey on January 3, 1935, and spent his entire working career in the oil and gas industry as a well test operator. His occupation enabled him to travel to many places across Alberta; as well as to the Gulf of Mexico, east off the coast of Labrador, and to the Yukon Territories.
Don is survived by his four children Rodney of South Korea, Donna of Rimbey, Dale of Blackie, Alberta, and Jacqui of Calgary; as well as two special granddaughters Amanda of Rimbey and Tracy of Nanton, Alberta; and five cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters and one brother; numerous nieces and nephews; several other relatives and good friends; along with his furry best friend and faithful dog Andy. Don was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mavis; his parents Martha and Shorty; and one son-in-law.
With respect for Don’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held at this time. He will be laid to rest in the Gull Lake Cemetery at a later date.
