On January 5, 2023, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Rose Mary Anderson (née Hagemann) passed away at home on her farm near Rimbey, Alberta. Rose was 90 years of age.

Rose was born on June 3, 1932, in Ponoka, Alberta to Rosa Maria and Matthew John Hagemann. After attending Normal School, she began her teaching career in one-room schoolhouses throughout Central Alberta. Rose later completed her Bachelor of Education degree through the University of Alberta, and went on to be a teacher and administrator at the Rimbey Elementary School. She dedicated over 40 years to her students, and will always be remembered for seeing the positive gifts in each one. Rose married Laurence Anderson in August of 1958. Their love and friendship of 63 years was an example to all. Rose loved gardening and sharing her cooking. She welcomed everyone who came to the farm, and her wisdom and strength were offered with kindness and thoughtfulness.

Rose is survived by her daughters Debbie Gustafson (Gord) and Brenda Anderson (Gerald Borgel); and her grandchildren Alexandra and Theron Gustafson. She is also survived by her sister Lorraine McFadden (Gordon); brothers Clarence Hagemann (Donna) and Walter Hagemann (Gladys); sister-in-law Ethel Storhaug; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband Laurence; brothers and sisters-in-law Vern Hagemann (Doreen) and Stan Hagemann (Geri); and brother-in-law Jo Storhaug.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Rimbey on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Les Drewicki, Celebrant. A light lunch followed in the Parish Hall.
