VAN EATON

It is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of our cherished father and grandfather, Elmer Van Eaton of Rimbey, Alberta. He passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

In his lifetime, Elmer was passionate about many things; especially working on his farm, taking care of his animals, and ice fishing. He was an amazing gardener and took pride in how early he planted his garden. Elmer loved growing his own vegetables and watching everyone’s reactions to his giant vegetables! He spent many years perfecting his carrot cake recipe, which included carrots that he grew and just the right amount of spices. Elmer would often enjoy bringing fresh carrot cake and potatoes to the girls at the Co-op. He also took pleasure in going to dances, and often spent his evenings watching western movies and reading western novels. He loved trying new foods that his family would bring him, and he was always looking for the ‘best’ burger!

Elmer will forever be remembered and deeply missed by his loving family: his daughter, Cindy Van Eaton; his two grandchildren, Candice Mah and Benjamin Speager; as well as numerous other family members, and many life-long friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Grant and Isobel.

With respect for Elmer’s wishes, no formal funeral service was held. A Family Celebration in his honour was held at a later date. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Elmer’s memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice. Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting: www.ofc-ltd.ca
