FRASER

Our loving mom, Ellen “Jean” Fraser (neé Mulloy) of Bentley, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Jean was born at home on June 16, 1935, on the family farm near Rosalind, Alberta. She was the youngest of four children. Mom went to school at the Heather Brae School and then attended high school in Rosalind, from which she graduated in 1953. Following graduation, Jean studied at the University of Alberta to become a teacher. She taught school in Bawlf, Alberta (Grade 3), and also in Armena, Alberta. In 1955, Mom married our dad Frank in Camrose, and they moved to Bentley in 1956.

Mom was a homemaker and taught kindergarten. When they started Valley Steam Ltd. in 1969, she took care of dispatching trucks and looked after the company books. Upon selling the business, Jean became the Co-operators agent in Bentley. Later, they purchased their farm and raised cattle. After Frank passed away in 1998, Jean built a new house and moved to Bentley. Some of her interests included sewing, painting, reading, and playing the piano and organ – either at church or at home. Anything she ever tried, she did well. Mom was also very proud to be of Irish descent.

Jean is survived by her four sons Scott (Yvonne), Jack (Cheryl), Lorne, and Bert; as well as her grandchildren Madisson, Westin, Lee, Wyatt, Lucas, McKenzie, and Paige; her great-grandchildren Saige, Nash, Lincoln, Nolan, Parker, and Revi; in addition to several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank; her parents DeWitt and Matilda Mulloy; brothers Pat and Dave; and her sister Margaret.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Marco Williams-Ste-Marie officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband Frank in the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley at a later date. If desired, memorial donations in Jean’s memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
