McKELLAR

Keith Alexander McKellar of Rimbey, Alberta, a loving husband and friend, passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the age of 77 years.

Keith was born on July 14, 1946, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Alex and Bea McKellar.  He was the youngest of four children and spent his early years on the farm before the family moved into the town of Dawson Creek.  Keith was a wonderful dancer.  It was at a dance that he met his wife Cathy (née Capri).  Their first dance together sparked something… and the rest, they say, is history!  They were united in marriage on October 19, 1974.  Keith worked for many years with National Concrete Accessories (NCA) in Calgary, and retired on January 14, 2011.  He loved to play cards, golf, go bowling, attend activities at the seniors centre, travel, and volunteer.  Keith also took pleasure in having a meticulous lawn at their home at Gull Lake; where the lush, green grass never stood a chance of growing tall!  He was a caring and kind soul who truly enjoyed meeting and being with people.

Keith will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Keith is survived by his loving wife and best friend Cathy; and two daughters from his previous marriage, Lori McKellar and Nicole (Pete) Ellul; as well as a granddaughter Amanda Ellul; and a grandson Joshuwa (Taylor) Ellul, all residing in Ontario.  He is also survived by his sister Bernice Cavers of Kamloops, British Columbia; two sisters-in-law Liz McKellar of Nanaimo, British Columbia and Carol (Cliff) Doroshenko of Lethbridge; and one brother-in-law Mike Merritt also of Lethbridge; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  Keith was predeceased by his parents; his brother Earl; his sister Joyce Armstrong; a sister-in-law Diane Merritt; two brothers-in-law Bill Cavers and Bud Armstrong; and his first wife Valerie.

Keith’s Family would like those attending his service to feel comfortable and at ease.

Please feel free to dress casual, or even wear your favourite golf shirt!
