McMECHAN

With heavy hearts the family of Richard “Dick” John McMechan of Bluffton, Alberta announces his passing.  Dick passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Acute Care on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the age of 75 years.  Dick was born on October 16, 1949, in Belleville, Ontario, and a large portion of his life was spent working in the oilfield. 

Dick will be forever remembered by his wife of 42 years, Debra; his stepdaughter Janet (Matthew) Wright of Winfield; as well as three step-grandsons Dixon, Liam, and Avery.  He will also be remembered by his sister, Alice Clapp of Belleville, Ontario; in addition to many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and close friends.  Dick was predeceased by his parents William and Mildred; and one sister Marion Irwin.

With respect for Dick’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.  If desired, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the Iola Fairview Cemetery, c/o RR 2, Bluffton, Alberta  T0C 0M0.  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
