We are saddened to share that John C. Mellon of Lacombe, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the age of 93 years.

John was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 1, 1930, the only child of Edward and Alice Mellon. A mechanic by trade, John enjoyed many years in the automotive industry. He married his best friend Dorothy Gittins, and together they raised their two children. While their children were growing up, John was actively involved with Scouts Canada. He was also very committed to the Royal Canadian Legion, receiving many awards of recognition from both of these organizations.

John will be lovingly remembered by his son Brian (Bernadette) of Edmonton; and his daughter Bonnie (Tom) of Spruce Grove; as well as four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other family members and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and his loving wife Dorothy in 2013.

With respect for John’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date in the Bunker Hill Cemetery, Winfield.
