MOONEY
Doris Irene Mooney of Rimbey, Alberta, formerly of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 87 years.
Doris was born on the family homestead at Carrot River, Saskatchewan on January 14, 1933 to Clifford and Edith Schiiler. She enjoyed the friendship and company of her three sisters: Jean, Carol, and Phyllis. Doris was married to her husband, Jack Mooney, for 51 years until his passing in 2014. In 1970, Doris and Jack resided in Red Deer where they raised their two children, Darcy and Stacey. Doris worked for many years at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in housekeeping. She took great pride in her work and worked exceptionally hard at it. Doris was very involved with her family, the Moose Lodge, her weekly curling league, visiting with friends, and playing bingo. She enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, rodeo, and hockey. Doris was an incredibly giving and thoughtful person. She had many friends, and always put others before herself.
Doris will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend to many - especially by her daughter and best friend, Stacey. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Darcy of Red Deer; her daughter, Stacey (Cory) Glenn of Rimbey; six grandchildren: Amanda, Megan, Richelle, Darcel, Dustin, and Dylan; and nine great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many cherished friends. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Edith; her husband, Jack; and her sisters: Jean Asel, Carol Mansell, and Phyllis Hardwick.
A big ‘thank you’ is extended to the staff of the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre - Area One. You go above and beyond in caring for the residents, and you make each one feel special and loved.
With respect for Doris’ wishes, no formal funeral service was held. A small gathering of family to say their goodbyes will take place in the Spring of 2021.
