RATZLAFF
With sadness we mourn the loss of Bruno Ratzlaff of the Rocky Mountain House, Alberta area, who was taken from us on Monday, July 19, 2021 after an intense and unexpected struggle for life. He passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre at the age of 67 years. Those who knew Bruno will forever remember his zest for life, his outgoing personality, and his exuberance for his family and his friends.
Bruno began his life on September 2, 1953 at the family home in Acme, Alberta. His family eventually moved to Calgary. Bruno attended the James Fowler High School. He made many life-long friends, several of whom he had recently reconnected with. Bruno attended SAIT in 1975 and began his career in the engineering field, focusing on mechanical systems design for buildings. He had well-respected, successful careers in the private sector, with the Alberta Government and the City of Calgary. Bruno was a passionate man; he never did anything half-way. He loved fishing, hunting, carpentry, and loved the challenge of a house renovation. Bruno and his wife, Linda spent thousands of happy hours together on their quarter section of land near Rocky Mountain House. Hard work was something he thrived on – and Bruno always had a project, or five, on the go! But most of all, he loved to be surrounded by music, his family, and his friends. The West Coast was one of Bruno’s most treasured places. He enjoyed the feel of the ocean, deep-sea fishing, and the many friends Bruno took into his life circle. To close the end of each beautiful day, Bruno loved to watch the sunset; to Bruno it was an event to be savoured to the last minute – which was exactly the way he lived his life!
“We will miss you, Bruno.”
Bruno will be forever missed by his loving wife, Linda; his brother, Oly; and his sister, Gerda (Sami). He will also be greatly missed by all of his additional family and treasured friends. Bruno was predeceased by his parents, David and Maria; and his brother, Kurt.
A Funeral Service in Celebration of Bruno’s Life was held at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5236 – 54 Street, Rocky Mountain House on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Amison officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House.
