RAYMOND

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma Ruth Eileen Raymond (née Simpson) of Rimbey, Alberta. Ruth passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Long Term Care on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the age of 96 years.

Ruth was born at home on October 7, 1926, to Bertha and Foster Simpson of the Symonds School District. She met the love of her life, Mike Raymond, and they were united in marriage on July 14, 1946. Ruth and Mike celebrated 60 years of marriage before Mike passed away in 2007. Ruth continued to reside on the farm in the Lockhart area until she moved, in July, 2022, into Long Term Care in Rimbey.

Ruth will be greatly missed by her daughters Colleen (Bob) Laidler, and Joanne Berg; her cherished grandchildren Lorry Moller (Louise) and family, Lane (Tina) Moller, Robert (Sabrina) Laidler, Chad (Madison) Laidler, Tracy (Darcy) Strueby, and Shannon (Tamarea) Berg; as well as her precious great-grandchildren Sarah, William, Samuel, Elwood, Joyce, Orson, Tayler, Rayden, and Gabriella. She will also be greatly missed by her sister-in-law Gale (Leonard) Skjonsberg; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Mike (2007); her father Foster (1977); her mother Bertha (née Pike) (1994); son-in-law Ray Berg (2008); granddaughter Michelle Rae Berg (1978); and her siblings Lorena Wagner (2013), Russ Simpson (1993), Teresa Boschman (2009), and Donna Safronovich (2003).

Ruth’s Family would like to thank the great staff at Rimbey Long Term Care for their unending dedication to their patients. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Burke for her compassionate care and attention to Ruth.

A Gathering to Celebrate Ruth’s Life was held at a later date. She was laid to rest, together with her husband Mike, in the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley.
