ROBINSON

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Leroy Robinson of Rimbey, Alberta.  David passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 69 years.

David was born on July 30, 1955 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Reverend George and Inez (née Shatto) Robinson.  He was one of five children.  After leaving the United States for Canada, David received his plumbing degree in Red Deer, Alberta.  He was employed in and around the Red Deer area until landing a job with Benjamin Gas Co-op in Rimbey from 1995 to 2006.  David also operated a small cattle farm west of Rimbey at the same time.  In the year 2000, David met his current wife Sue and they were married in 2005.  They sold the farm and moved to Debden, Saskatchewan in November of 2006.  After a couple of years, David then went to work for a local plumbing company before finding employment with Harvest Oilfield Services, which he thoroughly enjoyed until suffering a stroke in 2019.  After spending time in the Saskatoon Hospital, David was moved back to Rimbey where he resided until his passing.

David is survived by his wife Sue; his children Jessie Robinson (Nick Hetzel), Charity Robinson, Olivia Robinson (Carolyn Hilliard), and Elizabeth Ellsworth (Adam LeBlanc); his stepsons Robert (Kim) Blondin, and James Blondin; as well as three grandchildren Sophia, Jase, and Everley; and one step-granddaughter Alyssa.  He is also survived by two sisters Loretta Royce, and Shirley Robinson; one brother Gerald (Connie) Robinson; in addition to many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.  David was predeceased by his parents; and one brother Herald.

With respect for David’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held at this time.  A Private Family Graveside Service took place at the Bradshaw Cemetery, Leedale, Alberta on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Ken Vanderploeg officiating.  As David loved birds and other wildlife, memorial donations in his memory may be made directly to the Ellis Nature Centre, Box 5090, Lacombe, Alberta  T4L 1W7 (www.ellisnaturecentre.ca).  Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
