It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Deane Mark Wasylyszyn. Barry died suddenly at his home in Rimbey, Alberta on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Barry was born in Smithers, British Columbia on September 11, 1953, the second child of William and Ellen Wasylyszyn. After graduating from the Houston Secondary School, Barry served in the Canadian Armed Forces. His love of woodworking led him to leave the military and pursue cabinet making. Barry designed and built many beautiful things; from jewellery boxes, cabinets, and tables, to houses that several people continue to enjoy today. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t craft or repair. Barry took great pride in his work, and it showed. He was always there when people needed help or advice. Barry had a deep love of family, and his kind heart will be sorely missed. Our memories of Barry are numerous and cherished, and will remain in our hearts.

With respect for Barry’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. He will be laid to rest at a later date. Thoughts and messages to the family may be shared through the condolence area located at the bottom of this page.
